Update - November 2012:
We have a winner!! Gary Payton won the autographed Matt Ryan jersey. Congratulations!
Still not too late to contribute. Benton is making plans to end his school project. To date, his efforts have raised over $2,500. Thanks so much!
In May 2007, my grandmother, Glenda Hinson, lost her battle with multiple myeloma. She was only 60. Multiple myeloma is a disease that my family and I had never even heard of until Grandma’s diagnosis. It is a very painful form of blood cancer, the second most common blood cancer, and the third fastest growing cancer in people 65 and under in terms of mortality. Still, it is a disease unknown to most people.
Now, as a 5th grade FOCUS student at Level Creek Elementary in Suwanee, Georgia, I have a chance for “Giving Myself Away” by helping increase awareness of this type of cancer and raising money for the International Myeloma Foundation (IMF). This fundraiser is a great way to remember Grandma and to help with the fight to find a cure for this disease.
I am asking friends and family members to make a fully tax-deductible donation to help me meet and exceed my goal of $2,000 . Please help me in raising funds for myeloma research by donating to the International Myeloma Foundation. Just click the yellow “Donate” button.
In addition to this website, I am having a raffle to raise additional funds. I am selling tickets for $5.00 each to be entered into a drawing to win an autographed Matt Ryan jersey with Certificate of Authenticity donated by the Atlanta Falcons. The drawing will be held on Friday, November 2, 2012.
For information regarding the raffle, please contact Benton at my parents’ email address at firstname.lastname@example.org.
