Michael and Sharnail's Wedding

Thank you for sharing in our day of celebration.  As an alternative to purchasing a gift from our wedding registry, please consider a contribution to one of our favorite charities as a way to commemorate our special day.

The International Myeloma Foundation (IMF) has helped thousands of multiple myeloma (bone marrow cancer) patients worldwide through significant medical research and patient education, and the IMF is a 4-Star Charity Navigator (its highest rating). Among the many patients benefitting from the IMF's valuable efforts and benevolence are Michael's father, Jerry Walton, and the members of the Southeastern Virginia Multiple Myeloma Support Group, started in August 2007 with the help of the IMF.  The IMF, based in California, emphasizes that "Knowledge is Power" for patients and caregivers.

They recently brought myeloma experts from Mayo Clinic and other renowned institutions to Hampton Roads, hosting a Multiple MyelomaRegional Community Workshop to educate area patients on the disease and treatment options.  They also hold numerous beneficial Patient & Family Seminars and coordinate myeloma clinical trial standards that integrate worldwide research efforts to find effective new treatments and hopefully one day a cure for the disease.
