THE JOSH BILLINGS RUNAGROUND TRIATHLON

Honoring Norm Anderson

Benefiting the International Myeloma Foundation

Over the years, we’ve all contributed to many good causes - well, here’s one more I ask you to consider.  My father-in law, Norm Anderson, along with the other 20,000 people per year in the US who are diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a cancer of the bone marrow, needs your help.  In the United States, there are approximately 100,000 people living with this disease, but still, there is a lack of public awareness about it.  Although the causes are uncertain, multiple myeloma is a highly treatable cancer.

In an effort to support the International Myeloma Foundation (IMF) and all their good work, I will be participating in the Josh Billings Runaground kayak-triathlon in Stockbridge, MA.

The Josh is the second oldest canoe/kayak triathlon in the world, with thirty-seven categories for teams and iron-persons.  Five hundred bikers race on gorgeous backcountry roads to Stockbridge Bowl, where paddlers canoe, kayak or paddleboard five miles around the lake.  It concludes with a six-mile run around the lake into the grounds of Tanglewood in Lenox, where we celebrate the day with the Josh 'Bash' - food, drink, music and awards – the famous Josh Mugs!  The Mission of The Josh is “to put on the best danged race in the Berkshires!” and their overview is “To Finish is to Win”.
