STOMPING OUT MYELOMA MARCH AND AWARENESS DAY
In June of 2012 I had an unfortunate accident and broke my arm. This lead to my diagnosis of multiple myeloma. I immediately began treatments at the Shands Hospital in Gainsville Fl. On April 18, 2013, I had a stem cell transplant under the care of Dr. Maxim Norkin. During this time my daughter and I wanted to spread awareness about multiple myeloma and meet others who have been down the same road. Unfortunately, we found that there were no local support groups, and because I was getting treatment, it was hard to go far away. We took matters into our own hands and decided to bring awareness to our town, Ocala Fl. That is how Myeloma Awareness Month came to Ocala, Fl. I even was able to get Mayor Kent Guinn to proclaim March as Myeloma Awareness Month in Ocala.
On March 8th, we are holding our 2nd Annual Walk, Stomping out Myeloma March and Awareness Day. I also look forward to April 18th when I will be hosting a Celebration of Life. Please join me in this Walk and for more information, you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you cannot participate but would like to support our cause, please click the yellow donate button and be a part of my day.
