WINS FOR A CAUSE
The Washington and Lee Men’s Tennis community, like nearly everyone worldwide, has been touched by cancer. We have watched as family, friends, and colleagues have battled diseases, and we know the toll it takes—physically, emotionally, and financially—on all involved. This spring, our team is looking to make a difference by having our on-court performance count for more than just our record!
Through our “Wins for a Cause” program, we are raising funds for the International Myeloma Foundation (IMF), the world’s leading organization in the fight against multiple myeloma, one of the most common forms of blood cancer and one that currently has no cure. Your pledge will help the IMF in its mission to improve the quality of life of myeloma patients and their families.
What Will My Donation Support?
With your tax-deductible contribution, the IMF is able to continue to undertake a number of important efforts, including its four pillars: Research, Education, Support and Advocacy
You can learn more about the IMF and its programs at www.myeloma.org.
HOW DOES THE PLEDGING WORK? | PLEDGE ONLINE!
The more the Generals win, the more money we raise for the IMF!
Participants pledge a certain amount of money per individual match won by Washington and Lee Men’s Tennis throughout the 2013 spring season. Each person’s total donation will be determined at the conclusion of the season in late May and will go directly to the IMF.
For those unfamiliar with collegiate tennis, each team match consists of 3 doubles matches and 6 singles matches, for a total of 9 individual matches. Last spring, the Generals played a total of 21 team matches (16 regular season, 5 postseason) and accumulated 115 individual match victories. Based on last year’s results, a pledge of $1, for example, would yield a total donation of $115. This year, we have 20 regular season team matches scheduled and hope to put together another strong postseason as well.
